MM2 of The Locust: How to Escape

Build a safe MM2 of The Locust escape route by reading current objectives, searching keys from landmarks, testing doors, and recovering from a chase.

To escape in MM2 of The Locust, follow the objective information shown by the current round, search for reported key items from stable landmarks, and keep a safe return route while the monster is elsewhere. The official description confirms escape as the premise, but it does not publish a permanent key order or exit sequence.

Step 1: read the live objective

Wait for the role and objective UI to appear. Note any key icon, door state, counter, or prompt before leaving spawn. If the build gives only a broad escape message, start with orientation rather than guessing an item chain from another game. The PRE-ALPHA warning means the developer can change the flow without preserving old screenshots.

Confirm the exact experience. House of The Locust uses a separate Place and has publicly discussed cubes, wire cutters, keycards, and a green EXIT. None of that belongs in this route unless you independently see it in Place ID 113385977463481.

Step 2: create a map loop

Choose a central landmark and trace a loop through two or three connected areas. Mark dead ends, doors that show prompts, and routes that change elevation. A loop gives you somewhere to go when the Locust blocks the direct path and prevents repeated searches of the same rooms.

At every branch, ask two questions: what objective surface can I check, and where do I run if the monster appears? If the second answer is “back through the same narrow door,” search only when you have enough distance or teammate support.

Step 3: search for keys safely

Current game-specific coverage reports keys appearing around the maps, including less obvious rooms or lower areas. It does not prove fixed coordinates. Search visible surfaces, corners, side rooms, and accessible lower routes. When a key appears, approach until the interaction prompt is clear and wait for the pickup or UI change.

Record the visible label or color and nearby landmark. If another survivor collected it, ask where they are going rather than repeating their branch. The Key Locations guide provides a map-agnostic scan order for moving spawns.

Step 4: match progress to a door or route

Move toward doors or objective prompts that correspond to the current UI. Test one route at a time. If nothing changes, leave a clear team message—key label, door landmark, and failed result—then continue. Randomly trying every door exposes the carrier and wastes the chase window.

When a route opens, pause long enough to identify whether it is a corridor, room, lower section, or final objective area. Do not assume the first unlocked door is the exit. Keep the return path visible and watch for a new prompt.

Step 5: handle the chase without losing progress

If the Locust appears, call the landmark and move away from the key route when possible. Use solid corners and connected rooms to break sight. Continue beyond the first corner, then hide or redirect. If carrying a key changes on elimination, that behavior must be learned from the current game; no public first-party rule confirms whether progress drops, resets, or transfers.

Defensive equipment can open time for the route, but exact taser behavior is update-sensitive. Activate only when the live item is ready and the result will let you cross a doorway, gain another level, or reach teammates. Move immediately after the effect.

Step 6: confirm the winning state

Follow the final prompt, door, or objective transition shown by your server. A clean win should produce an unmistakable round result or move your role out of danger. Do not call a hidden room or temporary safe corner the exit merely because the monster did not follow.

If the expected result fails, check whether another key, player, or interaction remains. PRE-ALPHA bugs can interrupt an otherwise correct route. Retry the final prompt once with the required item and state visible, then capture the problem before rejoining.

Team route roles

RoleActionAvoid
ScoutMaps connected branches and dead ends.Entering a one-door room during an active chase.
SearcherChecks objective surfaces and reports key landmarks.Repeating a branch another player cleared.
CarrierTests likely objective doors with the current key.Following the monster or exploring unrelated secrets.
SupportCalls the threat and protects an escape lane.Blocking the carrier in a narrow doorway.

If the route changes after an update

Return to the lobby and re-read the objective. Rebuild the loop from landmarks, then test the key and door relationship again. Do not preserve an old coordinate just because it once worked. Check the Updates hub for official description changes and the Maps hub for revised route notes.

Evidence status

Escape from the nest is Official. Key collection and expanded routes are Community reported as of August 27. Exact item order, fixed spawns, transfer rules, and victory conditions remain Needs in-game testing in the current server.
